Aspartame

Aspartame is a simple protein composed of two amino acids, phenylalanine and aspartic acid.

The hydrocarbon bond to phenylalanine also gives this substance its sweet taste.

This chemical is a low-calorie sweetener that provides sweetness to beverages and foods without adding calories. It is approximately 300 times sweeter than sugar and is mostly found in chewing gum. Aspartame is used as a sweetener tablet in products such as fruit juices, ice cream, dairy products, various industrial desserts, canned fruits (compotes), sauces, and confectionery.
