Sodium lactate, with the chemical formula C₃H₅NaO₃, is a colorless liquid that is also available in powder form. Other names for sodium lactate include monosodium lactate and lacolin.

This compound is naturally produced through the fermentation of sugars found in corn and beets. It is used as a humectant, moisturizer, buffering agent, antioxidant, emulsifier, acidity regulator, flavoring agent, emulsion absorption enhancer, and reducer of the oily feel in emulsions.
